The Whistler Museum and Archives is planning a new comprehensive exhibit on Whistlers resort development period.
Curator Kerry Clark said while the museum has acquired significant materials on Whistlers pioneer era and the era spanning the 1960s and 70s, there is a need to document the resort development phase in Whistlers history, which she defines as the years spanning 1975-1990.
Clark said the museum has been granted access to both the RMOWs archives and Whistler-Blackcombs archives for the project, neither of which currently have comprehensive inventories. The project will also seek to document interviews with people integral to the resorts development such as Whistler Village master planner Eldon Beck.
Clark will direct the research for the exhibit over the next three months with the help of a research assistant and contract video technician, new positions funded by a recently awarded $4,200 grant from the Spirit of B.C. Arts Fund.
