The second Park Rider Sessions event of the season, a slopestyle, took place Sunday in the Nintendo Terrain Park on Blackcomb. The conditions were perfect with fresh snow the day before, and soft-packed take-offs and landings.

Some 56 skiers and snowboarders took part — less than usual for a slopestyle, but members of the Whistler Blackcomb Freestyle Club were away at a competition in Revelstoke and some members of the Whistler Valley Snowboard Club were at a provincial series event.

In Male Snowboard 17 and Over, Minoru Yoshida was the top rider with a score of 25.1, followed by Sam Weston with a 23.9 and Michael Pieman with 21.3.

In Male Ski 17 and Over, Yu Sasaki was first with a 29.7, followed by Peter Warkentin with a 26.0 and Garrett Porter with a 21.6.

Snowboard Boys 14 to 16 was the closest category with less than a point separating the top-three. Naoki Utsumi continued the Japanese sweep with a 27.7, followed by Brin Alexander with a 27.3 and Stevie Kopyt with a 27.0.

In Ski Boys 14 to 16, Simon D’Artois earned the highest score of the day with a 32.1. Erick Stai was second with a 29.7, closely followed by Clint Christen with a 29.5.

In Ski Boy 13 and Under, Jack Iles scored a 26.2 to take the win, followed by Braden Metza with a 19.8 and Finn Iles with a 19.7.

Luke Lattin won Snowboard Boys 13 and Under with a 17.2, followed by Keaton Gibson with 15.8 and Samuel Gingras with 14.5.
