Sea to Sky athletes leave for Canada Games

Morgan Titus to represent Whistler in athletics

This week some 350 athletes from across B.C. will be heading to Saskatchewan to compete in over 20 events at the Canada Games from Aug. 6 to 20. The Games, which take place every two years, are a stepping stone for athletes to national teams and Olympic selection and will include more than 3,000 athletes and coaches from across the country.

Seven of those athletes are from the Sea to Sky corridor, including four strong rowers from Pemberton that got their start through Dr. Hugh Fisher and the Laoyam Eagles dragon boat team. Whistler’s contribution is Morgan Titus, a cross-country runner who has anchored the UBC Thunderbirds team for the the past four years.

Squamish and Garibaldi Highlands will be represented by Neal and Meghan Kindree, who will be participating in the road and mountain biking events, as well as softball star Kevin Smillie.
