Search on for hiker missing in Squamish area

Tyler Wright hasn't been seen since Aug. 10

Squamish Mounties are searching for a Vancouver hiker missing in Squamish.

Tyler Wright, 35, set off for a five-day hike on the Boise Creek Trail near Mamquam Pass on Aug. 10. He was expected home on Aug. 16. Friends and family have not heard from him since he left.

According to a blog set up by family to aid in the search, http://www.missingtylerwright.blogspot.com/ he was an experienced hiker. That is contrary to early media reports.

The blog asks anyone planning to hike in the Indian Arm, Squamish River, Pitt Lake or Widegdon Creek areas to be on the lookout for Wright.

"By no means are we encouraging people to search in areas they are not comfortable or equipped to travel through. If you happen to be in the above areas, please comment on this blog where you have been in as much detail as possible," read Friday's post.

Wright - who goes by the name "Ty" - is Caucasian, 6'4", blue eyes and a shaved head. He was last seen wearing grey pants, black zip up sweater or fleece, green T-shirt and green toque and a black backpack.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100.
