Pemberton Youth and Family Services (PYFS) is looking for youth applications for its second round of the Seed to Table Program.

Application forms are available at the Pemberton Community Centre with the deadline for applications set for 9:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2013.

PYFS's Seed to Table program builds self-esteem, self-efficacy and employability for youth in transition. The free program connects Grade 11s as mentors with Grade 7s transitioning into high school. Grade 11 participants attend two to four sessions per month and receive First Aid, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and FoodSafe training, as well as workshops on leadership, teambuilding, resume building, nutrition, financial literacy, horticulture, First Nations wildcrafting, positive mental health and mentoring.

Grade 11s are paid for these sessions and for mentoring the younger cohort, which joins them for special outings once a month on weekends.

"It's rewarding to hear stories of kids coming out of their shells, thanks to our Seed to Table Program," said PYFS Director, Geoff Pross.

Seed to Table runs from March to November.
