Approximately 60 teams faced the 72-hour deadline and submitted entries to this year’s Filmmaker Showdown at the Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival but only eight films were screened at the finals last Wednesday.

That left a helluva lot of cool films that came in under the cut.

Enter the Second Cut People’s Choice Awards. A collection of the best Showdown seconds will be screened at the Longhorn Saloon this Thursday, April 29, after which the audience will choose a winning crew to receive a consolation prize.

Event tickets are $10, which includes two beers and a burger. Proceeds will be donated to the Zero Ceiling Society, which affords under-privileged youth the chance to learn to ski and snowboard. Tickets are not mandatory for film viewing. DJ Milton will be on the decks after the screenings.

The films are set to start at 8 p.m. sharp.
