Whistler Waldorf School holding its annual Harvest Soup Contest Sunday

The Whistler Waldorf School is hosting their ninth annual Harvest Soup Contest Fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 10 at the final Whistler Farmer's Market of the year.

As of press time, seven Whistler restaurants have entered the challenge to see who can create the most delicious harvest-themed soup. They'll be serving up their culinary creations from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine, on Thanksgiving Sunday.  For $5 the public is invited to sample the soups and have a bowl of their favourite one, casting their vote for the winning entry. A fresh roll, supplied by Marketplace IGA, accompanies each bowl of soup and Slopeside Supply generously donates the bowls and spoons.

This year's community minded contestants include: The Mix by Ric's (the winner for the past two years), their in-house rivals, Ric's Grill, The Fairmont Chateau Whistler, Ciao Thyme Bistro, Players Chophouse, The Lift, Gone Village Eatery, and BBQ Bob's.

There is room for a few more entries. If any Whistler or Pemberton eatery is interested in entering please send an e-mail to the Whistler Waldorf School at info@whistlerwaldorf.com by Friday, Oct. 8.

"There's nothing like a hot bowl of soup on a cool fall day," says event organizer and parent Peggy Vogler. "Every year we sell out of soup before 3 p.m. so be sure to come early if you don't want to be disappointed!"

Proceeds from the event go to support the Whistler Waldorf School in their efforts to make Waldorf education accessible to all students regardless of financial ability.

This year the Whistler Waldorf School celebrates its 10 th year in Whistler growing from 10 students in 2000 to 85 students in 2010.
