A slide show presentation of the Whistler Friendship Tour 2001 through Italy. Whistlerites Pat Parker, Shawn Parker, Sandy Ryan, Rob Giffin and Tim Wales recently completed the bike tour, a fund-raiser for the Rotary clubs of Whistler. Saturday, June 2 at 8 p.m., they show their slides at Black’s Pub. Live and silent auction to follow.

AN EVENING WITH NICOLA EVERTON.

Carinetist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Everton will present a workshop on what it takes to pursue a career in music. Tuesday, June 7 at 7 p.m. at the Brackendale Art Gallery.

STAR SEARCH. The ninth annual Star Search takes place Friday, June 8 at 8 p.m. at the Eagle Eye Theatre in Squamish.

Farfalla Hair and Body Spa’s third annual fund-raising hair and fashion show will be June 18 at AlpenRock. Proceeds to Camp Moomba, for children living with HIV/AIDS.

WHISTLER CYCLING COMMITTEE OPEN HOUSES.

A municipally-supported group formed to champion cycling in Whistler, the committee will be hosing open houses June 2 and 6. The June 2 open house is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Village Square. June 6 the committee is in the Millennium Place foyer between 3 and 7 p.m.

VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP.

Whistler Community Services is offering The Nuts & Bolts of Fundraising, a crash course for new and old non-profit/volunteer organizations who want to gain or brush up on fund-raising skills. The free workshop is Sunday, June 3, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Alex Philip Lounge at Myrtle Philip school. RSVP to Diane before May 28, at 932-0113.

MOVING CHORDS CHORUS SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING.

Moving Chords Chorus Society, a non-profit society supporting children’s and youth’s choirs in the Sea to Sky corridor, will hold its annual general meeting on Monday, June 11 at 7 p.m. at the Squamish Baptist Church, 2262 Read Crescent. The financial report and the proposed budget for 2001-02 will be presented and two directors will be elected.

HELPING HANDS

WHISTLER FISHERIES STEWARDSHIP GROUP —

is planning a series of volunteer action days this summer to restore and enhance fish habitat around the Whistler Valley. Volunteers donate a few hours of their time and learn much about Whistler’s aquatic ecosystem and the animals that depend on them. This is a great chance to participate in the conservation of Whistler’s natural environment. The first Volly Day is June 2, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at Lakeside Park. STORMBC BOTTLE DRIVE.

The local riders of STORMBC will be taking the weekend of June 9-10 off from racing to focus on a bottle drive in Whistler. They are asking the public for help in making this fund-raiser a success. The racers will be going door-to-door from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in subdivisions throughout Whistler. The riders are also asking local bars and restaurants for help.

PEMBERTON MEADOWS MUSIC FESTIVAL.

INTRODUCTION TO NORTHWEST COAST NATIVE ART.

An informative lecture enhancing understanding of the art and culture of the Northwest Coast First People. Approximately 30 minutes long, Mondays at 2 p.m. and Thursdays at 6 p.m., Black Tusk Gallery on Main Street, 905-5540. All are welcome.

Winter operations are now over. The Horstman Glacier opens for summer skiing/riding on June 11.

WHISTLER.

Still open for skiing and boarding to June 10, but from now until June 10 sliders can share the Village Gondola with riders, as the mountain bike park is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
