The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre (SLCC) has confirmed that the third annual Spirit Within Festival will not be taking place this fall.

The yearly celebration of First Nations tradition and culture has been scheduled for late September in the past two years, but the SLCC’s marketing manager, Gwen Baudisch. said the festival will not go ahead this fall, although the museum is working on offering First Nations programming to augment other existing local festivals.

The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre’s executive director, Casey Vanden Heuvel, could not be reached for comment by press time.

After the success of the inaugural event two years ago, organizers expanded Spirit Within from one day to four in 2013, featuring art, music, dance and food showcasing aboriginal culture from Sea to Sky First Nations.
