The Sprite Park Rider Series continues this Sunday with a halfpipe contest on Blackcomb that’s open to skiers and snowboarders of all ages.

Pre-registration is recommended at Whistler-Blackcomb Ski School Sales and Guest Relations locations, but event-day registration is available at the Rendezvous Lodge before 9:45 a.m. The contest gets underway at 10:30 a.m.

The cost is $20 to enter, helmets are mandatory, mouthguards are recommended, and participants under the age of 18 need a parent or guardian to sign a waiver.

All participants will be eligible to win draw prizes, including Atomic skis, an Atomic Snowboard, and other prizes from Nintendo, Showcase Snowboards and Glacier Shop.

New Whistler Gymnastics programs start Monday

Whistler Gymnastics is offering two new programs, starting this Monday, Jan. 10. No prior experience is needed for either class.

By popular demand, former national team member Jody Winstanley will be hosting a rhythmic gymnastics class from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Myrtle Philip Community Centre.

Whistler Gymnastics coach and 2000 sport aerobics national champion Tami Ross will be hosting an adult Acro-sport class from 8 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., also at Myrtle Philip. Acro-sport includes gymnastics, sport conditioning, trampoline work, and flexibility training.

Spots are available in both programs. For more information or registration, contact Whistler Gymnastics administrator Catou Crookshank at 604-902-FLIP (3547).
