Whistler’s Sue Adams is one of the women featured in a new book about B.C. female entrepreneurs, published this week by the Women’s Enterprise Centre.

New Pioneers: Stories of 100 B.C. Women Entrepreneurs, is a celebration of the pioneering spirit shown by 100 contemporary women across the province. It is intended to “encourage, influence, inspire, provide role models and motivate women and girls to consider entrepreneurship.”

Adams, who has mentored small business owners throughout her career, has been co-owner of The Grocery Store for the last 20 years. Together with her partner and husband Bob Adams, they have led The Grocery Store to numerous awards from the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers. They also own Delish Café & Catering and opened the Pemberton Valley Supermarket in 1998.

Sue Adams is also a co-founder of Women of Whistler, current chair of the North Shore Credit Union board, current chair of the Millennium Place Society, past chair of the Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival and was the 2007 recipient of the Business in Vancouver Woman of Influence award.

The New Pioneers book is available through the Women’s Enterprise Centre at womensenterprise.ca.

The book is dedicated to the memory of Pique Newsmagazine’s founding publisher, Kathy Barnett, who was a board member of the Women’s Enterprise Centre.
