Intrawest is scheduled to begin construction on its second development at Sun Peaks, near Kamloops, in May. Sales of 72-suites in the Fireside Lodge condo-hotel development will go on sale April 8 at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver. Prices for the fully-furnished studio, one- and two-bedroom suites start at $99,900. Occupancy for the lodge, which is being built in the Sun Peaks Village next to the new sports centre, is scheduled for December 1997. Intrawest built the Sun Peaks Alpine Greens townhouse development in 1995 in a residential area near the village. The Fireside Lodge will feature a European mountain lodge design that maximizes valley and mountain views. Lodge amenities will include secured underground parking, an outdoor hot tub, ski storage, owner’s storage and a stone gas-fireplace in the lobby. "Intrawest is certainly one of North America’s leading destination resort developers," says Gary Kiefer, marketing director for Sun Peaks Resort Corporation. "With amazing success at Blackcomb, Whistler and other North American resorts, Intrawest is now starting its second project at the B.C. Interior’s fastest growing year-round resort." The Fireside Lodge is designed by Raymond Letkeman Architect Inc., the designer of One Whistler Village, the Intrawest project next to the Excalibur gondola which is scheduled to open in December.
