Chances Casino in Squamish has a new owner.
According to a press release this week Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Ltd has reached a deal to take over Chances as the owner takes another step towards increased earnings and expanding upon its real estate profile,
Boardwalk Gaming and Entertainment Inc., which also owns gaming centres in Mission and Surrey, sold its casino facilities and additional operational rights related to the Burnaby Bingo Country for an undisclosed sum in a deal announced this week. Boardwalk is Canada's largest bingo operator, previously operating 14 gaming facilities in Canada. Their assets include 10 facilities in Ontario and will now exclude the four in B.C. sold to Gateway.
Last year, Boardwalk facilities saw nearly three million guests. Additionally in 2007, its Bingo Centres paid out more than $50 million in prize money to customers and assisted in raising more than $20 million for local community-based charitable organizations that work in partnership with its bingo centres.
Gateway, which owns nine gaming facilities in B.C. and Alberta including the Grand Villa Casino in Burnaby, the Starlight Casino in New Westminster, and Cascades Casino in Langely, bills itself as one of the largest gaming companies in Western Canada.
