The Little Theatre’s Production of Hamlet is a comedic co-production of an age-old tale from the Whistler Players and Between Shifts Theatre. In Squamish at the Eagle Eye Theatre on June 26, 27, 28 and 29 at 8 p.m - adults $12. In Whistler at Millennium Place on July 4, 5 and 6 at 8 p.m - adults $14.

PEMBERTON MUSEUM SOCIETY

The first annual quilt show on June 29 at the Pemberton Museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

6 th ANNUAL MAMQUAM RIVER WHITEWATER FESTIVAL

The Squamish Kayak and Adventure Center presents the annual festival with an obstacle course race, downriver freestyle event, clinic and demonstrations, a BBQ, live entertainment and much more, Saturday June 29 to 30. Call 604-898-5498 for more info.

CANADA DAY PARADE

Deck out in red and white and celebrate Canada Day in Whistler, July 1. Parade ends with a party at the Whistler 2010 Information Centre. There will also be a BBQ fundraiser on the deck of the Whistler Mountain Ski Club Cabin. From 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., rain or shine.

LAUNCH OF THE COUNTDOWN CLOCK

Only 365 days until the International Olympic Committee makes a decision. The Countdown Clock will start on July 2 at 2 p.m. on the deck of the 2010 Information Centre.

PUBLIC READING FOR KIDS

Popular B.C. children’s author Linda Bailey will kick off the Summer Reading Club on Wednesday, July 3 at 7 p.m. at the Whistler Public Library. The reading is most appropriate for children ages 5 and up. Bailey will also be at the Squamish Public Library at 1 p.m. on July 3 and at the Pemberton Pubic Library at 12:30 p.m. on July 4.

STRAWBERRY TEA

The Pemberton Women’s Institute has rescheduled the annual Strawberry Tea to Thursday, July 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Pemberton Museum. Cost is $4 for strawberry shortcake and tea or coffee.

ARTRAGEOUS

Annual evening event celebrating the works of 50 local artists. Live auction also takes place this year. Tickets $5 at the door, Underground at the Whistler Conference Centre, July 6. For more info call 604-935-8419.

BEAR SMART PRESENTATIONS

Presentations will focus on various aspects of bear biology & ecology, bear behaviour, living with bears in your backyard, and safety in bear country. There is no InfoZone on Wednesday, July 3. The Callaghan Concept Plan, including the Whistler Nordic Centre is the topic for the Wednesday, July 9 InfoZone at 7 p.m. at the Whistler Mountain Ski Club Cabin.

AWARE MEETING

SUMMER READING CLUB

The Whistler Public Library is launching its summer reading program for children ages 3 to 9 called Booked for the Summer. Special programs for children will be held on Wednesdays in July and August. Sessions for 5 to 9 year olds will be held from 4-5 p.m. or 7-8 p.m. There will also be a session from 11 a.m. to noon for preschoolers aged 3 to 4. Pre-registration is important. Fill out a form at the Whistler Public Library.
