WHISTLER ARTS SHOWCASE>>

The second annual Whistler Arts Showcase (formerly Celebration 2010) takes place from Feb. 7 to March 4, marking the six-year countdown until Whistler helps host the Olympics. The showcase will feature local culture, heritage and talent in a number of different events. For a schedule of events go to www.whistler.ca/updates.

WHISTLER MUSEUM WHITE PARTY>>

The Whistler Museum is launching two new exhibits called "Frozen Time: Glaciers in the Coastal Mountains" and a satellite exhibition called Snowflakes at MY Place. On Fri. Feb. 13 there will be a "white party" in honour of the new exhibits from 7-9 p.m.

HEARTS & KISSES>>

A special story time for three to six year olds on Valentine’s Day at the library from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Pre-registration is required. Call 604-932-5564.

UZUME TAIKO>>

Dance and ceremonial percussion, costume drama and world music are all part of Uzume Taiko, a Japanese drumming troupe playing at MY Place at 8 p.m. on Sat. Feb. 14. Tix are $20 for adults, $17 students/seniors. Call 604-935-8418 for box office.

OLYMPIC SCAVENGER HUNT>>

The Olympic-theme scavenger hunt is geared for 9-12 year olds at the library on Sun. Feb. 15 from 7-8:30 p.m. Pre-register at 604-932-5564.

JANA DUPUIS VALENTINE PERFORMANCE>>

Music students will perform two pieces at Jana Dupuis Music Studio on Sun. Feb. 15 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. For more info call Jana Marie at 604-938-6435.

PASSION FOR THE EARTH>>

The second event in the 2004 Sustainability Speaker Series will get underway on Wed. Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. Guy Dauncey will speak about developing a positive vision for a sustainable world. Free at the Conference Centre.

LOST IN MONGOLIA>>

Colin Angus shows slides from his trip to the Yenisey’s headwaters in central Asia, where he travelled 5,500 kms down one of the world’s most dangerous rivers on Thurs. Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. Tix are $7/$4 at MY Place. Call 604-935-8418.
