Voters will have to wait until after the municipal election to see results of this year’s municipal monitoring program. With Mayor Ted Nebbeling away on vacation, council Monday voted to rescind an earlier resolution to hold the annual Town Hall Meeting on Nov. 9 and moved it to Nov. 24. Municipal elections are on Nov. 16. Nebbeling had been a vocal proponent of holding the meeting, which includes presentation of results of the municipal monitoring program, prior to the election. But a memo to council from Director of Planning Mike Vance proposed that "due to time constraints and organizational difficulties" the meeting be moved from Nov. 9 to Nov. 24. Acting Administrator Bill Barratt, who presented the issue to council in Vance’s absence, said it just wasn’t possible for the Planning Department to have all the information compiled prior to Nov. 24. The Nov. 9 date is also a day for advance voting in the municipal and school board elections. The decision to change the date was unanimous. Council members offered no comment prior to voting on the date change but some people have suggested that with the ski season starting Nov. 21 many, including young people, may be disinclined to attend the Nov. 24 meeting. The meeting will be held at Myrtle Philip Community School from 2 to 6 p.m. Nov. 24. An open house will be held prior to the meeting, from noon until 2 p.m., where proposals for affordable housing projects and information on the municipal transportation study will be presented.
