Just two weeks after racing in a Half Iron in Oliver, several members of the Whistler Triathlon Club were back at the start line on Sunday for the New Balance Half Iron Triathlon in Victoria.

The race included a 2 km swim, an 80 km bike and a 20 km run.

Whistler’s Marie-Anne Prevost finished first in the 35 to 39 age group in Oliver, and placed second in Victoria with a time of 4:41:22. She was 10 th among all women, and 81 st overall.

Lina Augaitis, a Whistler adventure racer, placed fifth in the women’s 25 to 29 race and 120 th overall in 4:51:42.

David Taylor was seventh in the Men’s 50 to 54 race in 4:55:50.

John Blok also raced in Oliver, finishing sixth in the 50 to 54 age category. In Victoria he had a good swim and bike, but had some stomach problems heading into the run that left him 16 th in his age category in 5:22:14.

His daughter Leah Blok was 20 th in the women’s 25 to 29 race in 5:47:18, racing less than a week after returning to Canada from a guide job in Wales.

While those athletes were slogging it out in Victoria, another group of Whistler triathletes headed back to Oliver for the fifth annual Wine Capital of Canada Sprint Triathlon. The race included a 750 metre swim, a 20 km bike and a 5 km run.

Greg Sandkuhl followed up his win in the Half Iron with a win in the sprint race, taking the 60 to 64 age category with a time of 1:09:17.

Dawn Titus finished four spots back of Sandkuhl, winning the women’s 45 to 49 race in 1:10:03.

Alisa Brownlee won the silver medal in the women’s 40 to 44 age category in 1:11:46.
