Whistler Blackcomb is celebrating Sea to Sky athletes and the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games in a new display at the Roundhouse Lodge.
The Olympic Legacy display will include photos and stories of Olympic and Paralympic alpine athletes as well as capturing "the vibe and atmosphere in the village and on the mountain." The Rossignol skis used by downhill gold medalist Didier Defago of Switzerland will be part of the display, as will a replica medals podium.
"We are very proud to have been the Official Alpine Skiing Venue for the 2010 Games. To see such great performances from our local athletes here and in Vancouver was amazing and we want to share that with our guests," said Stuart Rempel Senior VP of Marketing and Sales at Whistler Blackcomb.
Canadian athletes Maëlle Ricker, Ashleigh McIvor, Manuel Osborne-Paradis, Robbie Dixon, Matthew Hallat, Britt and Michael Janyk and many more Sea to Sky athletes are highlighted throughout the display.
"With so many great Olympic stories to tell and athletes to recognize from the region and around the world, we wanted to highlight their success while showing our pride as a host venue," said Rempel.
In addition to the legacy display in the Roundhouse Lodge and permanent Olympic Rings above the Timing Flats in Creekside, there will be a sign at the finish line of the Dave Murray DH listing all gold medal winners of the Olympic and Paralympic Alpine events on Whistler.
Canada's Olympic athletes have much to be proud of after the best results in Winter Olympic and Canadian Olympic history. The Olympic legacy display celebrates the successes of Whistler's local athletes, Sea to Sky athletes and all medal winners in the alpine events that took place on Whistler Mountain.
