Starting this summer the Whistler Farmers Market will run on Wednesdays as well.
"One of the goals of the market is to promote the value and availability of made, baked or grown products of the Sea to Sky corridor," said market manager Chris Quinlan in a release.
"The addition of the Wednesday afternoon market allows us to achieve that goal by both increasing the availability of our products to our customers and through that the exposure of the value and quality of locally produced food."
The new market will be much smaller in size than the Sunday market and will focus primarily on food.
The Board of directors of the Market has also founded a Marc Antoine Brodeur Memorial Scholarship.
Brodeur, a familiar face to market goers, was killed in a car accident in September 2007 as he drove from Pemberton to Whistler for a breakfast meeting. At the time of his death he worked for North Arm Farm.
"The board of directors felt that it was important to grow our philanthropic work as a way to recognize the support the community has shown the Farmers Market since its inception in 1993," said Quinlan.
The scholarship is for secondary school graduates in the Lions Bay to Lytton catchment area and is for someone entering agriculture or a related support service field such as veterinary work. Students can get applications through their schools.
The WFMS now operates 19 Sunday markets beginning on Father's Day through to Thanksgiving weekend.
