Whistler’s Emily Nakajima led the way for the Whistler Skating
Club at the BMO Financial Group B.C./Yukon Territories Sectional Championships
in Nanaimo this past weekend, placing seventh in Juvenile Ladies. Lisa Nakajima
was ninth in Group 21 of the Pre-Novice Ladies qualifier, while Beverley Horler
was 26
th
in Group 1. Tess Thompson competed in Pre-Juvenile Ladies,
finishing 31
st
.
In October, the club participated in the B.C. Coast Regionals,
where Samantha Shrimpton placed first in the Senior Bronze Ladies Final.
Rebekah Robertson was second in her qualifying group then 11
th
overall, and Marielle Thompson was ninth in her qualifying group. Tess Thompson
was 10
th
in Pre-Juvenile Ladies, and Emily Nakajima third in
Juvenile Ladies.
In Pre-Novice, Lisa Nakajima was fifth overall and Beverley
Horler 33
rd
. Broderick Thompson was ninth in Pre-Novice Men.
The club’s next event is the annual Jingle Blades competition in White Rock, Nov. 28-30.
