When the snow flies in Whistler one thing is certain - and it's not quite what you'd think. What is certain is that the resort's winter transit schedule will ramp up with added journeys and more buses on the road.

The first of Whistler's transit schedule changes goes into effect on Saturday, Nov. 17, in time for the resort's early opening this weekend.

As part of Early Winter service, the #5 Upper Village/Benchlands Shuttle makes its annual return.

Service also increases in Alta Vista, Blueberry Hill, Spruce Grove/White Gold, Rainbow/Emerald and south of the Village to Whistler Creek, Tamarisk and Cheakamus.

Transit service will be enhanced on the American Thanksgiving weekend, between Thursday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012.

The Full Winter schedule runs Dec. 13, 2012 until April 9, 2013.

All routes will see increased service levels. All southbound buses (#1 Valley Connector South & #2 Whistler Creek/Cheakamus) will stop at Post 2 in the Gondola Transit Exchange. All Northbound buses (#1 Valley Connector North & #3 Rainbow/Emerald) will stop at Post 3 at the Gondola Transit Exchange.

Weekend service levels will be extended to all Fridays and holiday Mondays, whether they are Canadian or American holidays.

There will also be more after-midnight runs to support heavy passenger loads.

Bulletins are available on BC Transit buses or around the Village. Schedules are posted online at www.bctransit.com/regions/whi
