A Whistler man is facing charges after he was arrested in connection to an alleged sexual assault this week.
Just before 5 p.m. on March 13, a Vancouver nurse contacted local police to say that one of her patients has been assaulted the night prior at a bar in Whistler. The woman claimed the male suspect had offered her a ride home after she had consumed a handful of drinks. She believed she may have been drugged, police said, as she "didn't remember details" from the night, said Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair.
After providing a statement to police, the suspect was identified and the 33-year-old arrested at his Whistler home. Crown counsel has not yet formally approved charges.
Whistler man arrested after trying to steal ex-girlfriend's dog, police say
A Whistler man faces several charges after he reportedly tried to break into his ex-girlfriend's car to steal her dog.
On the afternoon of March 11, police responded to a report from a woman who claimed her ex had tried to break into her vehicle parked behind a village hotel. Attending officers determined the suspect had used a tire iron to try and pry open the front passenger window and retrieve the dog.
Documents revealed the dog was in fact registered in the woman's name. Police also learned that the suspect had made a previous attempt to retrieve the dog on Dec. 28 when he attended his ex-girlfriend's residence on McKeever Place. At that time, the man allegedly struck his ex, causing her to fall to the ground and chip her tooth, police said. The incident was not reported to police at the time.
A 38-year-old Whistler man now faces charges of mischief and assault causing bodily harm. He was released with a later court date on conditions not to contact his ex or possess any firearms, police said.
Stolen truck taken on 'joyride,' police say
A truck stolen from a Pemberton storage yard was left crashed and abandoned last week, police said.
On the morning of March 9, the owner of a 1992 Nissan pickup truck was notified by a friend who recognized the vehicle as it lay on a pair of railroad tracks south of Mount Currie. Police attended to find the truck stuck in a ditch, where it appeared it has been "taken for a joyride, become stuck and abandoned," explained LeClair.
The vehicle has been seized for forensic identification, police said.
Woman found passed out on Valley Trail was on condition not to drink alcohol
A Whistler woman found passed out on the Valley Trail last week was on condition not to consume alcohol, police said.
An officer located the unconscious woman on the trail near Cheakamus Lake Road and Highway 99 after a member of the public reported her. The 47-year-old was "laying in some bushes near an empty gin bottle and six full bottles of beer," LeClair said. She was then taken to the Whistler Health Care Centre for treatment.
Subsequent investigation uncovered the woman was on condition not to possess or consume alcohol stemming from a hit-and-run in Pemberton back in December.
