Wild T coming to town

Canadian guitar god and his band play Boot Pub

Who: Wild T & The Spirit

Where: Boot Pub

When: Monday, May 23

Electric blues rockers Wild T and the Spirit touch down at the Boot Pub on Monday night.

The band is fronted by Tony "Wild T" Springer, a talented axeman who moved to Toronto from Trinidad as a teenager.

Purveyor of a style that lends comparisons to Lenny Kravitz, T honed his guitar skills on the Hogtown club scene fronting the Jimi Hendrix tribute band Fire.

He set out on his own circa 1987, setting the foundations for his current project Wild T & The Spirit in 1990 and releasing debut album Love Crazy the following year on Warner Music Canada.

The album would prove to be Wild T’s calling card, with the video for the single Midnight Blues catching the eye of none other than David Bowie, who was then on tour in Canada. Bowie tracked down Springer and offered him a spot as recording guitar player for the1992 solo album Black Tie , White Noise.

Aside from Bowie, Springer has performed alongside Boston, Bon Jovi, Jeff Healey, Deep Purple and Johnny Winter.

Wild T and the Spirit is currently touring Western and Central Canada in support of latest album True Bliss, released in 2004 on Bullseye Records.
