Will Routley to race Bike Fest

Four-day road race tackles winding roads of Banff National Park

While many of his teammates at SpiderTech powered by C10 are chasing UCI points and titles at the Quebec Tour de Beauce, Whistler's Will Routley will be representing the team at a smaller event this week.

The annual Bike Fest four-day, five-stage race returns to Banff this week with four rides through the most scenic - and challenging roads - through Banff National Park. There is a Prologue today (June 16), a time trial around the Lake Minnewanka Loop, the Lake Louise Road Race along the Bow Valley Parkway from Banff, a criterium through downtown Banff and the Tunnel Mountain Road Race. Some 500 cyclists are taking part, including Routley - the 2010 national road champion and arguably the most successful member of Team SpiderTech this season after placing second in the Tro Bro Leon major in France.

Routley did not join his team in Quebec in order to focus on the upcoming National Championships in Burlington, Ontario from June 23 to June 26 where he will defend his title. One of his personal goals in recent years has been to represent Canada in the 2012 Olympics.

Complete details about Bike Fest will be posted online at www.banfflakelouise.com and www.canadiancyclist.com.
