Employees at two McDonald's locations in Metro Vancouver have recently been confirmed as having the coronavirus (COVID-19).

McDonald's Canada posted the new cases to its online tracker, indicating the following affected restaurants:

  • 12930 96 Ave, Surrey: Last day employee worked was Jan. 24
  • 7229 Kingsway Ave, Burnaby: Last day employees each worked were Jan. 20 and Jan.  23

Neither of the fast food chain outposts is considered a public exposure site by Fraser Health.

There are currently four B.C. McDonald's Canada locations with employee COVID cases.

McDonald's Canada says it has "maintained a commitment to remain transparent in our communications, so that restaurant employees and guests are informed and can contact their local public health authorities for directions, if needed."

"For any guests who may have visited the restaurant and have questions, please take directions from your local public health experts," says McDonald's Canada.

Should you seek testing for COVID-19?

Fraser Health follows the BC CDC's guidelines for British Columbians who need to determine if they should be tested for COVID-19, which outlines the following:

  • Use the B.C. COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool to see if you need to be tested for COVID-19
  • If you feel unwell and are unsure about your symptoms, contact your health care provider or call 8-1-1.

You can use this updated chart to determine which of your symptoms indicate a COVID-19 test is needed.
