Vancouver Police Department officers were called to a building at Hastings and Main Sunday night following reports an altercation had turned violent.

Just before 9 p.m. Sunday night (June 12) staff at a social housing building on East Hastings Street near Main, called Vancouver police to report that two men were arguing and the situation was escalating to violence.

When police arrived on the scene one man, 34, was found in and out of consciousness having been stabbed several times with a sword. He was treated at the scene before being rushed to the hospital with serious injuries but police believe he will survive.

"We know who the suspect is and we believe this incident was targeted," Sergeant Steve Addison told Vancouver Is Awesome over email.

VPD is still collecting evidence but anticipates that charges will be laid when the investigation concludes.
