PHOTOS: Here's a list of can't-miss Tri-City light displays sure to dazzle the 2021 holiday season

The Tri-City News will be adding to the list in the days and weeks ahead as local residents gear up their homes and businesses for the season.

Sometimes, staring at thousands upon thousands of lights can warm the heart and bless the soul.

That's the goal of Tri-City residents this year as many are putting in the work as we speak to create holiday displays — big, medium and small — for the 2021 winter season.

The COVID-19 pandemic kept some people inside or in their vehicles last year when venturing out into places like Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra.

However, some families are making up for the tough, challenging times by hosting fundraisers alongside their brightly-coloured houses and businesses.

You can find an ongoing list of regional residences welcoming visitors and more information below.

Is there a holiday light display you think deserves a visit from Tri-City residents? Is your home decorated for the holidays? Send a photo, address and other relevant information to newsroom@tricitynews.com

We'll add them to the list below. 🎄🎄🎄

ANMORE

What may be the Tri-Cities' brightest street for the holidays is back for a second straight year.

Ravenswood Drive homes in Anmore are decorated to the nines with lights and displays to create Candy Cane Lane for the region to view and amaze.

A drive-thru event has been established as part of fundraising efforts by Ravenswood homeowners for the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation (ERHF) in supporting those on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

You can find a donation link on the ERHF's website.

Candy Cane Lane will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 5 to 11 p.m. on weekends

COQUITLAM

John and Trudy Wolff have put up more than 6,000 lights and even hand-painted more than 100 display pieces both on the house and in the yard.

This is the 35th year the Coquitlam couple has gone above and beyond to celebrate the season with the community.

The Wolffs are also hoping to raise money for charity this year and are asking the public to consider donating online to SHARE Family and Community Services.

To mark the occasion, the Wolffs have combined traditional Christmas decorations like a manger scene with comtemporary figures like Santa and his reindeer.

The house is set to be lit up nightly from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Brian Comin has upped his home's holiday display this year by installing nearly 20,000 lights.

This includes multi-coloured bulbs around all the trees in the front yard, across the front of the house and the Grinch on the garage.

He tells the Tri-City News his residence will be lit up nightly from 5 to 10:30 p.m.

A light show that brings the music too!

Maria and Mariano Pacheco are inviting the public to watch and listen as the light displays on their home coincide with an array of holiday tunes heard through the radio.

The Pacheco's tell the Tri-City News the songs are different each night, so interested residents are encouraged to come back multiple nights.

The musical light show will be on display Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 6 to 9 p.m. on each hour.

You can tune in to 100.1 FM when you arrive.

Here's a trip to Eagle Ridge's neck of the woods you don't want to miss!

"Dangville" is a large, elaborate miniature Christmas Village that includes more than 1,000 pieces that move, light up and dazzle the hearts of viewers.

It's bustling with activity, including hardworking elves in the North Pole, suburban residents decorating their houses, and Mickey and Minnie Mouse making a special visit to Chinatown.

Oh, and the Grinch may be lurking nearby.

Interested residents are being asked to call "Joe" (778-229-4181) in advance to reserve a time in order to follow COVID-19 public health and safety protocols, and for intense cleaning between viewings.

Admission is free, but donations for local charities are being encouraged.

"Dangville" is open daily from noon to 9 p.m.

The Badley family's home has lit up her Rochester Park neighbourhood for the past few years.

They tell the Tri-City News the bright lights, snowmen and trees have attracted locals and some new features are already on the lawn.

Musical bells are activated by motion detectors when visitors pass by.

Plus, there's an appearance from Rudolph and his friends from the island of misfit toys.

Thousand of lights and elves making toys in a workshop are all part of a fantastic lights display in Coquitlam's Westwood Plateau area.

The Bilesky family has also installed a life-size singing Santa, rooftop Grinch and a Disney tree with several Mickey and Minnie figurines in front of their house — with a background of Christmas carols for musical entertainment.

Visitors are encouraged to consider donating to a fundraiser the family has created among its light display for Variety the Children's Charity.

The house will be lit up nightly from 6 to 10:30 p.m. between now and Jan. 9, 2022.

Karen Mitchell loves the holidays!

So when it comes to decorating her home for Coquitlam's Town Centre neighbourhood to see, she goes the extra mile to deck every single hall and room inside.

Visitors can see from a safe distance the big Christmas tree in the main window, which is also outlined out by lights, while a big wreath accents the right-side window as Santa hangs on to the roof for dear life.

Outside, she's installed dozens of multi-coloured lights around the household and the shrubbery.

Traditional and contemporary features are also on display, such as a nativity scene at the garage and North Pole villagers on the lawn.

Nearly 1,000 volunteers have helped put up holiday lights at Lafarge Lake in Town Centre Park this year.

The handcrafted elements can be seen along the two lighted trails: the first running from the Inspiration Garden to the new concession hub that’s west of the tennis courts; the second running from the orca on Pinetree Way and behind the Evergreen Cultural Centre.

Visitors may also see some familiar community features, too, as the city has repurposed the wooden platform swings from this summer’s pop-up park in Burquitlam, as well as the brightly coloured furniture from Austin Heights pop-up park, to be part of Lights at Lafarge.

And, yes, Rocky Point Ice Cream will be at the concession stand for guests to get treats and hot drinks, while the bathrooms at the hub and behind Evergreen will stay open late.

Coquitlam Centre Mall has gotten into the holiday spirit with several displays inside its four walls.

This includes trees, ornaments, lights and presents. The mall is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 pm. on Sundays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Wednesday.

PORT COQUITLAM

Multi-coloured lights cover almost every inch of the outside of Peter Pauli's home in Port Coquitlam.

Trees, reindeer and Santa Claus can be seen within Oriole Place that's sure to bring some cheer to the Birchland Manor neighbourhoods as well as visitors across the city.

Pauli tells the Tri-City News every is welcome to view the display and he's also accepting donations for the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Royal Columbian Hospital.

The Pauli house will be lit nightly between 5 and 10 p.m.

The Hansen family has carefully contested a holiday light display with a south pole theme.

Penguins take over the front lawn of the Port Coquitlam home, alongside 110 homemade wooden figurines.

And, of course, dozens of multi-coloured lights!

The Fortiers have made good use of their home's outdoor space to create a stunning holiday display in the heart of Port Coquitlam.

Just off the main drag of Citadel Drive, they've installed dozens of multi-coloured lights that illuminate several recognizable figures.

This includes a Santa Mickey Mouse and a snowman family to greet you at the top of the driveway, as well as another snowman getting ready to ski the slopes.

Lights are strung up to outline the house, front-yard trees, bushes and gardens.

An inflatable Santa Claus waves 'Hello' in welcoming visitors to the Soares household in Port Coquitlam.

It's surrounded by dozens upon dozens of colourful lights (quite literally) around the property, from the roof and the chimney of the home to the front lawn and the hydro poles at the end of the driveway.

There's even a polar bear in a scarf eyeing a large candy cane... will they eat it all before you arrive?

Miracle on Rae Street is back with more than 200,000 lights synced to music between now and Jan. 9, 2022.

Considered one of the most massive displays in the Tri-Cities each year, there's also a 90-foot tall tree in the front yard next to other related holiday decors.

The site is also accepting cash donations to SHARE Family and Community Services.

Lights are scheduled to be lit up between 5 and 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 5 and 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.

Homeowner Dale Brindley and fellow organizers are encouraging everyone to follow health and safety protocols by practicing social distancing.

Visitors are asked to enter Rae Street from Prairie Avenue and exit onto Fremont Street to create a one-way route.

PORT MOODY

The Tri-City News has been informed that 10 houses in this Port Moody neighbourhood have decked their homes to the nines for the holidays.

Al Watson says it's "worth the drive" as each residence has a different festive theme.
