Lynn Mueller, CEO of SHARC Energy Systems, and Trevor Funk, director of North American operations, have developed the Piranha heating and cooling wastewater heat and recovery system, which can take a building’s wastewater and use the energy produced for hot water production and air conditioning.

A Port Coquitlam clean tech entrepreneur is being recognized by Canada’s top sustainability award for a practical solution to addressing climate change.

Lynn Mueller, president and chief executive officer of SHARC Energy Systems, was one of five recipients of the Clean50 Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Mueller's company manufactures systems that can turn wastewater into heat.

SHARC systems have been used in condominium, mixed-use and commercial projects to reduce greenhouse gases and scaled up for large industrial-sized wastewater flow and filtration systems.

Mueller is set to be acknowledged during the Clean50 summit in Toronto on Friday (Oct. 1).

The goal of the summit is to get businesses and leaders together to discuss climate change solutions.

Each fall since 2011, the “Canada’s Clean50 list” has marked the accomplishments of 50 sustainability leaders in 16 categories.

Recently, the list has expanded to identify Emerging Leaders, Top Sustainability Projects, and to recognize Canadian business and climate heroes with Lifetime Achievement awards.
