A Steveston thrift store reacted quickly to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, by putting together a front window display in her honour.
Great Britain’s 96-year-old queen, the country’s longest-reigning monarch, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon (U.K. time) at Balmoral, the Royal Family’s estate in Scotland.
And, to mark her death, the SOS Children’s Village store on Moncton Street created a touching table in her memory.
On the table, were gloves, photos, magazines, tea sets, a miniature Queen’s Guard, flowers and books.
According to historical records, the Queen made just one official appearance in Richmond, when she opened the Deas Island Tunnel (later renamed George Massey) on July 15 in 1959, just seven years into her reign.
