West Van multi-vehicle crash sends one to hospital

One person was sent to hospital in a stable condition Tuesday (March 22) after a collision on 15th Street in West Vancouver.

A multi-vehicle collision Tuesday (March 22) afternoon ended in flames with one sent to hospital in stable condition.

In a statement to the North Shore News, BC Emergency Health Services said multiple reports of a vehicle incident were called in around 4:20 p.m. at Queens Avenue and 15th Street in West Vancouver’s Hollyburn neighbourhood, just below the Upper Levels Highway.

On Twitter, West Vancouver Fire & Rescue said a fire engine and a rescue team responded, along with the BC Ambulance Service and West Vancouver Police Department.

Pictures show a 1990s era Toyota Corolla smoking from its engine after mounting a curb and plowing into cedar hedging.

West Van acting chief of fire prevention Aaron Clements said the driver of the Toyota was able to exit the vehicle before the engine compartment burst into flames, however, the driver did complain of a head injury after the incident.

Clements said the second vehicle, a black Honda CR-V had damage to its back bumper.
