TORONTO — Five things to watch for in the Canadian business world in the coming week:

Outlook survey

The Bank of Canada will release its second-quarter issue of its business outlook survey and Canadian survey of consumer expectations on Monday morning. The pair of reports come ahead of the central bank's interest rate announcement and monetary policy report on July 30.

CN results

Canadian National Railway Co. will report its second-quarter financial and operating results after markets close on Tuesday. U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs have created uncertainty for the railroad which serves a broad range of industries including the auto sector.

Rogers results

Rogers Communications Inc. will release its second-quarter results before markets open on Wednesday. The company recently launched a new satellite-to-mobile text messaging service, marking the latest step in its partnership with SpaceX and Lynk Global to eventually deliver full satellite-to-phone coverage across apps, data and voice service.

Retail trade

Statistics Canada will release its figures for retail trade in May on Thursday. The agency's preliminary estimate suggested retail sales dropped 1.1 per cent for the month. Retail sales in April were up 0.3 per cent at $70.1 billion.

Loblaw results

Loblaw Cos. Ltd. will report its second-quarter results on Thursday before financial markets open. An Ontario judge recently approved a $500-million settlement in a class-action lawsuit that had accused Loblaw and its parent company George Weston Ltd. of engaging in an industry-wide scheme to fix the price of bread.
