Dear Editor,

Re: “Making space for anti-vax views,” Editor’s column, Sept. 9.

I must respectfully disagree with your view that anti-vaxxers should have a voice or platform in any form of media for their disinformation.

In March 2021, the Five-eyes (Director of National Intelligence of the USA) issued a Global Trends report forecasting a rather bleak outlook. The report read: “in addition, people are likely to gravitate to information silos of people who share similar views, reinforcing beliefs and understanding of the truth.”

The “truth” of the anti-vaxxers, no matter how adamantly proclaimed and no matter how “nicely” spoken, is a lie and untrue. Before the invention of the Internet, conspiracy theorists and their “ideas” were unconnected and unorganized.

Now they have been given a platform, a voice and the power to organize.

Eve Edmonds, please do not give any support to these people.
