The lineup for next weekends Celebration 2010 Cultural Cabaret will include a strong component of acts hailing from the Lower Mainland.
Aboriginal recording artist Wayne Lavalee and comedy performer Deborah Williams will join dance performer Trina Eby and members of the Whistler Dance Academy as well as beloved local southern-fried rock duo The Hairfarmers on the Millennium Place stage.
The Cultural Cabaret is a signature event of the Celebration 2010 Whistler Arts Festival the Whistler Arts Councils annual arts extravaganza occurring each February in the years leading up to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
Last years debut Cabaret event presented an all-local lineup of music, theatre and cultural performers interspersed with speeches by ex-Olympians living in Whistler and other local personalities.
While last years event was a VIP invitational, this years Cabaret is open to the public. Tickets are $10, available in advance through TicketMaster or at Millennium Place. The show begins at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12.
The evening will close with a separate ticketed performance by SWARM. The electrifying experimental percussion troupe from Vancouver is returning to the MY Place stage after a full-house show in January 2004.
The SWARM performance runs from 10:30 to 11:30 p.m. and requires a separately purchased $8 ticket.
