Re: “Letters to the Editor for the week of July 25

Dont worry doc global warming is a hoax. It was created by Al Gore as part of a vast global tax scam. In the distant future, hopefully humanity will have a new and better alternative, which is AFFORDABLE, but currently we should stick to the plan as conceived prior to globalism and 9/11. Do you not find it odd that the same people who promote global warming are the same ones who travel the world POLLUTING it and use tax dollars to promote TOURISM, which is the greatest threat to our Canadian environment. Do you not think many of the fires here have been started by tourists looking for Canadian wilderness photos for Instagram who toss joints and ciggy butts on the ground starting fires in remote areas of our wilderness which previously had not need reached by humans so had not caught fire? Hmmm...the more you know!

Re: “Letters to the Editor for the week of July 18th

Hi Julie, so even though Gopher D Maxwell is specifically naming Doug Ford and Donald Trump in his hate filled diatribes, its your contention that hes not talking about them specifically? Wow! Thats Liberal logic at its finest. Also, there are many MANY actions that many MANY world leaders have from which to choose, I can think of those in Communist China or Saudi Arabia to start and their total disregard for environment, freedom, LGBT and religion, though Gopher D Maxwell is fixated on a few very specific leaders (ones who criticized covert globalist liberal media in the West). How sad it is when the public defend their own state propaganda agents! Some people prefer the cave, but I shall let my light shine anyways!

Re: “Letters to the Editor for the week of July 11th

Typical left wing nut job just spewing made up nonsense. I happen to watch plenty of the Rebel media and they are no different than your beloved CBC . They just have a different opinion than yours. The only difference is they back it up with facts in the name of FOI requests. You are the one my friend that pedals hate and division. What happened to the true roots of Liberalism build on a foundation of cynicism and accountability towards government . Now your just a mouth pieces for them acting as there apologist . They are lying to you about man made climate change all the while handing over trillions in bad investments to their corporate masters that wont cool the planet one iota

Re: “Letters to the Editor for the week of July 11th

Thats a lot of words to avoid the basic blazingly obvious fact that 80% of Ezra Levants energy goes straight to peddling flat out racial bigotry.

And the other 20% is denial of climate change

The two horsemen of the Right Wing Authoritarian apocalypse dressed up as sage and sober criticism of the man who wears funny socks. You can put lipstick on a pig all you want...

Its still a pig…

Re: “Letters to the Editor for the week of July 11th

You prove my point that your uninformed. You spend all your time attacking opposing opinions instead of working on moving your own ideas forward. Liberals demanding censorship to stop foreign meddling while all the while employing foreign NGOs to do their bidding for them. Ezra Levant spends 80% of time attacking Trudeau and through FYI requests he has the goods on him. JT altering his flight logs for example and his unethical and illegal meetings with Facebook just to name a couple. Another 15% is all about censorship of conservatives which you will deny but its a fact like you ASKING me to leave you would delete me if you could. But see to us Bruce your a useful idiot thats why populism is growing we are going to wrestle the power away from the UN and return it to the Canadian people. We dont have the right horses in the race yet but give another 5-10 years. You referring to me answering a dog whistle is a racist comment but you will use some big words to deny it . The Jew has every right to expose Islam for its true colours , every Muslim can expose Israel for its transgression a black man can be sombre about slavery. Let me hear their opinions and then form my own. They have the right to speak , you dont have the right not to be offended. I would love to criticize conservatives or liberals equally but when all you read in your local newspaper is a left wing propaganda it makes us want to Defend everything conservative because if we dont we will turn all the power over to some pretty boy in cute socks with lovely little dimples and wavy hair to distract us while foreign interests steal our democracy

Correction: To be perfectly factual, to say that Donald Trump Dog whistles his racial, ethnic and gender prejudice is to blur the lines of semantics a bit. He does Dog Whistle plenty but every now and then he wears his colours proudly!…

Re: “Letters to the Editor for the week of July 11th

Thats it DaveM, keep talking. I knew I could squeeze your true intent and nature out of you at some point and its necessary for the good but generally sheltered people of Whistler to see what really lies lurking beneath the chubby chipmunk cheeks of Canadian Conservatism.

Don't leap spectacularly to the conclusion of "kick out". I never said anything of the sort in fact I implied it would be your choice, if you find that Canada - a Liberal Democracy - is just a little too Liberal for you. Liberalism is all about individual freedom and opportunity, be it leave to go live in Russia if you like or to wear a turban or a crucifix or a Kirpan or marry your partner in equality or receive equality in health care or equality in economic opportunity or any number of fundamental freedoms inherent in any Liberal Democracy.

Which a place like Russia - what is known as a Pseudo or illiberal Democracy - does not have so perhaps you would be happier there.

Ezra Levant is no dummy and he is very well skilled in the very limits of legality that only Liberal democracies can provide. He, like Trump, is perfectly aware that while his rabid fans wish to be more overt and less ambiguous about their authoritarian needs and desires, strategy dictates a more nuanced messaging:

The Dog Whistle.

When a "news agency" spends about 80% of its resources blathering on about how Islam is "not a religion of Peace", thats about as obvious a Dog Whistle as it gets. We know what he's hinting at. 1930's National Socialists were no less full of the same hints.

Perhaps you will now conclude that I, the CBC, GD Maxwell and all the other illiberal Liberals spend 80% of our resources dog whistling that Canadian Conservatism is "not the religion of Peace"? Fair enough I can argue on that point but its not "hate". It is debate and criticism, all to do with the extent and limits of Liberalism in a Liberal Democracy and to put it in context, authoritarianism is by definition illiberal. Liberals of course can and should be intolerant. They should be intolerant of intolerance

Re: “Letters to the Editor for the week of July 11th

So you want to kick me out of the country because I dont agree with you . You typical Marxist slob of low iq and big words .
I wish no I will against GD Maxwell I believe him to be a good writer and a decent person just believe hes partisan like yourself You have no power. In fact no one even reads this paper its garbage. You cant shove your liberal ideology on to us. We are rising and you cant stand it . Ezra Levant is calling out the government hypocrisy and some of the government funded organizations want to shut him up and you call this proof. Just like GD he has every right to his opinion and you have a right to yours even if you are a burden on society. Go suck down another soy boy latte , hug a tree and wait for your government check to come in on time this month

Re: “Letters to the Editor for the week of July 11th

What you consider "the best bar none" is rated by fact checkers as both extreme right wing bias and unreliable in accuracy.

The Rebel also is not a member of any professional journalism, media or broadcasting association which governs its members by a code of ethics. When it was still Sun Media (aka FOX North) Ezra Levant infamously was disciplined for ethical transgressions numerous times by the mandatory governing association and when it died he chose deliberately to avoid all and any similar professional peer review of his content and conduct at the Rebel. His only "peer " now is you.

Even without that level of scrutiny, he has been lambasted numerous times for ever more blatant ethical malfeasance that was so obvious and repellant that even his most reliable parasites abandoned his septic host body for less poisonous waters to the point of near bankruptcy. Good thing his production facility is rent free in his mom's basement.

At any rate, this is all besides the point which is to what degree can GD Maxwell's own journalism be characterized as "hate" by comparison. As I clearly pointed out, it might rub your fur the wrong way but it sure as hell isn't hate if by your gold standard the Rebel also isn't. So is it? You tell me.

Next time you get "bent" about Max or the CBC or whatever just remember that you are getting bent about what is typically factual reporting or at worse some hyperbolic opinion that is vetted and disciplined by their competitors and peers and on the grand scale of things isn't nearly as consistently biased or mangled as your own hero and his long history of disbarments, social and professional repudiations and libel suits.

Its not hate. Its called criticism and if you can't handle it, maybe you need a country where such a thing doesn't exist

The truth is the facts dont care about your feelings Bruce . Show me the proof and I will cancel my membership today . I read more Liberal bent news than anything else and Ezra Levant is the best out their bar none .

David M - I don't doubt for a millisecond that Ezra Levant has produced "the most honest journalism you have ever seen".

You really ought to broaden your honesty horizons at least a smidgen!

Re: “Letters to the Editor for the week of July 11th

Bruce Kay show me one example of hate from the Rebel Media. Just because you hate them and the fact that they hold these Libranos accountable does not constitute hate speech. Ezra Levant Rebel commander is a Jew. No one knows persecution more the Jews. He is not an apologist for the Government and routinely criticizes conservatives also. He is not a fan of Andrew Scheer. He is producing the most honest journalism than I have ever seen. I dont agree with everything he says. Unlike Liberals who require the government to prop up their news source, the Rebel is 100% viewer funded. A real Canadian success story. Privatize the CBC and it will be finished in a year .

Re: “Letters to the Editor for the week of July 11th

Fascinating. There is that rather common accusation of "hate" again, directed at Max again, from a Conservative again.

So I read the last opinion piece produced by the offending party, scouring it for hate speech along the lines of what occurs by the barrel load in Ezra Levant's the Rebel day in day out or even anything remotely comparable to the scathing wit of Rex Barfy in the National Post and all i can come up with is this:

"There are two ironies in that statement. The first is Doug Ford has been looking down on people and telling them how to live their lives ever since he first held elected office. The more profound irony is that this definition describes everyone. Everyone. We all look down on someone, some group."

Hmmmm. How terribly bland and disappointing! A rather factual criticism of old Dug the Slug followed by a humble and introspective observation of empathy for his noted faults. So i look at the previous week, sure to find some vitriol worthy of the Third Reich but alas, just some insipid prose distributing condescension and mockery nearly equally between Andrew Scheer and Trudope for their various politicking around the carbon tax.

Nothing about Doug Ford at all, nor any hooray for Antifa, or hardly even any derogatory insinuation to his base of voters other than a now boring reference to "populism".

So Tyler, I get it that you can't handle criticism of your various cultural icons..... but hate?

Is it at least possible, don't you imagine, that the term snowflake might well be directed at you if this is the sort of stuff that drives you and your family to vote for an ex drug dealer?

Re: “Letters to the Editor for the week of June 20

the "fertile farmland loss" argument is a fallacy as well. Located as it is so far north, the Peace river is not developed as large scale agriculture for a very good reason - more than half the year it is too freaking cold.

on the other hand, 100 years from now when the world wil definitely be warmer and perhaps the California central valley is withered away to desert, the Site C dam will have fullfillled its usefulness in restraining global warming from catastrophic consequensces at which point it can be decommissioned as planned, then converted finally to that agricultural potential that the enviro's always go on about.

incidentally, there are few things that humans do that fundamentally alter natural eco systems that rival modern day agriculture. Just look at the Fraser Valley sometime. Way more ecology changing that any logging operation. Don't wave the flag of agriculture if you are single mindedly focused on preserving natural ecologies

Re: “Letters to the Editor for the week of June 20

in a context of the single greatest global scale ecological threat - climate change - yes, at least some large scale hydro electric projects are "Green" simply because they provide firm 24/7/ 365 days a year power at low GHG production, which wind and solar do not.

I'm not sure why this empirical fact, one that all the credible environmentalist NGO's from Suzuki to Pembina Institute state as true in their literature, is so consistently ignored. I'm sure we can all agree that some rivers, such as the Fraser or any other fisheries critical river should not be dammed for power but there are others

such as Site C

that are not and are also conveniently located right next to Alberta, which to this day produces most of its electricity with fossil fuels.

incidentally, the "methane" problem with flooded reservoirs is limited to equatorial regions, not temperate regions closer to the poles.

The clock is ticking. Pick you battles more wisely environmentalists
