Re: “B.C. man says he owns copyright, trademark for People's Party of Canada name

Legal proceedings in federal court are expensive undertakings.

As it is extremely unlikely Dhillon will convince the court to grant the injunction he seeks, or his desired review of Elections Canada's processes, I fear that Dhillon is probably wasting his money. Or, perhaps it is some other entity's money. Who is paying for this nonsense?

Re: “B.C. man says he owns copyright, trademark for People's Party of Canada name

Dhillon's claim to the PPC trademark seems premature. The Canadian trademark office lists the application as merely "Formalized."

See here: https://www.ic.gc.ca/app/opic-cipo/trdmrks/srch/viewTrademark?id=1920191&lang=eng&tab=reg

Before being allowed, this trademark application needs to be published and then survive the inevitable opposition (challenges) to the application.

A bit of digging into this particular applicant reveals a prior arrest record and lengthy legal proceedings. The term "trademark troll" might well be appropriate.
