Re: “Wiping out a forest

Spoken like a true radical extractionist: you can't expect credibility if you use expressions like "the range resource." I won't waste time debating each completely incorrect point (i.e., all of them) but I will note three things. First, the statements you claim as false are from an empirically derived report, the numbers are public, and you can go to the link I provide to read it and then complain directly to the report's authors if you like. Second, use of virgin wood pulp for tissue is indeed often derived from trees that aren't marketable for lumber, which is huge swaths of the far north boreal forestplus almost all second cuts, even after 60-80 years, are pulpwood. Check out the numbers from a main supplier: https://www.resolutefp.com/Sustainability/… This, forest removal for the oil sandswhich is substantialis indeed LAND USE CHANGEwith <0.05% rehabilitated to date. And on a side note, citing the Cheakamus Community Forest doesn't help your argument; most of us who know anything about biology and ecology consider the entire enterprise a sad joke and believe the resort community should be fighting back at having to be included in such an anachronistic undertaking.

Re: “Overmatched skier calls police for help after getting caught on run that was ‘too difficult'

I think I speak for everyone in town when I say I'd like to know what run it was and where the person was from.

Re: “B.C. hunting guide seeks class-action lawsuit in battle over grizzly hunting ban

It's people like this and their warped sense of entitlement that makes positive change so hard to effect. What a waste of time and money.

Re: “Making a case

Seriously buddy, your first clue should be that this column is found under the "opinion" banner, so of course there's bias. How's Grade 5 treating you?

Re: “Goldfish discovered in Pinecrest Lake

not only are these invaders in the lake, but they eat frog eggs and tadpoles and Pincecrest Lake is an important breeding site for provincially blue-listed (endangered) red-legged frogs. Since we need to kill them all by whatever means, and fast, electrofishing is the most efficient.
