Re: “Whistler Blackcomb sounds alarm on after-hours travel on mountains

Let's post this a second time and see if I am censored again (every statement is backed up by facts on www.backcountrybc.ca). It seems desperation has set in.
"Well, let's name the elephant in the room. This is about denying access in a manner that breeches the contractual terms and obligations of WB's Master Development agreement for the sake of corporate greed. At least American multi-national Vail is being consistent in its trampling of the law and its disdain of the traditional backcountry user and the little guy. They are under the false impression that their CRA is their private fiefdom and not subject to the terms set out by the taxpayer in the MDA. And to think, we handed over 32 KM2 of Garibaldi Park in seven separate boundary adjustments to the exclusive benefit of Vail's corporate greed, and now as a token of their gratitude, they are denying us access to what little is left - what they haven't yet consumed and taken over as the insatiable corporate parasite that they are. And then there are those WB passes being sold through Vail's Website in the US so they can avoid paying Canadian Taxes. Such a wonderful corporate citizens Vail is."

Re: “Spearhead Huts Project aims to break ground this spring

I can see why Steve and Whistler Heli-Ski doesn't want the Spearhead Huts project to go ahead. These backcountry huts may interfere with their lucrative 50 KM2 heli-ski tenure of which portions are situated within the conservation zone (the ecological zone you say is so important to respect) of Garibaldi Park and less than 50 meters from a wintering goat habitat (Ministry Policy state a 2KM is mandatory). It is indeed amazing to see how quickly and easily park rules and regulations can be ignored, violated and broken when you donate $50,000 to Christy Clark's last election campaign in 2014. I look forward to Election BC's posting of political donations this April. But hey, let's trumpet park policy regarding the Spearhead Huts; pointing out the toothpick in your opponents eye when you have a massive 2x4 in yours. Garibaldi Park 2020 says hello.

Re: “Whistler Blackcomb's Brownlie wins CEO Award

It should be easy to make a profit of $241 million when as an organization you are handed a whopping 32.8 KM2 of prime alpine parkland (Garibaldi Park) on a silver platter through the course of six separate boundary adjustment land-giveaways by using your political connections in Victoria (slow applause). Not surprisingly, these "give-aways" happened with little to no public consultation. Whistler Backcomb has also profited substantially by failing (and outright refusing) to live up to their legal agreements to restore vehicle access to the historic singing pass trail access (more lift ticket sales generated by hikers who are "incentivized" to use the lifts to reach Singing Pass via the Musical Bumps rather than than facing an unnecessary 5+ KM road walk to reach the historic trail which existed long before WB). But profiting from increased lift ticket sales, ATV tours and bike parks is more important than legal agreements and doing the morally right thing if you are a "top CEO". Capitalism without a conscience seems to be the Whistler Backcomb Modus Operandi. It also seems that anyone with political friends in Victoria is destined for these kinds of awards and accolades with incidental effort; hollow, shameless and vacuous indeed. Too bad it is the park and the non-paying backcountry user that pays the price for these lofty awards, accolades and corporate profits. Did I mention the 50.8 KM2 of Heli-Ski tenure's for the Spearhead Range in the conservation of zone of the Park? The rubber stamps were fast at work on that one.

The profits and political influence flow as freely as these meaningless awards. How long will the Singing Pass issue remain outstanding in the name of greed and profits by this cash cow ski resort? I can hear the noise of the pigs feeding at the trough of what was once pristine parkland, giving little in return other than the remnants of their digestion. Congratulations on your award Dave Brownie (Slow applause with an oink oink here and an oink oink there..)
