Competing at the 2018 Canadian Men's Senior Championship, Pemberton's Lance Lundy had a few shots he'd like to have back.

Still, Lundy took a tie for third in the Super Seniors (65-and-over) division at the tournament, held at the Gowan Brae Golf and Country Club in Bathurst, N.B. from Sept. 4 to 7.

"The golf course played a little difficult and I didn't play as well as I would have liked to have played," Lundy said.

"Most golfers probably would say the same thing," he added with a laugh.

Lundy opened with a seven-over-par 79, followed it with a one-under 71, and then wrapped the week with back-to-back five-over 77s to finish with a four-round total of 16-over. Vancouver's Doug Roxburgh won the event with an 11-over while Quebec's Michel Roy ended up with a 13-over. Lundy shared third with three other golfers.

"I played well in the second round," he said. "I couldn't catch onto the green speeds, but it all worked out."

Lundy said the course wasn't in amazing shape, as early-season storms wreaked havoc on the conditions.

"They had a difficult spring. I think it snowed, actually, in the end of May and June, so the condition of the golf course probably wasn't what they wanted it to be under normal weather conditions," he said. "A couple of days, it was quite windy, so it was a little bit testy for a little bit out there, but everybody made it through."

That said, Lundy praised the course and volunteers for putting together a well-organized week and preparing the course as well as possible.

"We're appreciative of all the hard work that people put into it," he said.

Next up for Lundy is a Pacific Northwest Golf Association team event in Washington state, where he'll partner with Kelowna's Norm Bradley, and then the Washington state seniors championship. From there, he'll head south to Savannah, Ga. for a pair of events in October.

Speaking from the Maritimes, the Big Sky Golf Club member was eager to return to the Sea to Sky corridor and get some rounds in before further competition.

"I can't wait to get home and play my golf course at home," he said. "I play golf courses all over North America and for those of us that live in our area, we should not take for granted what we have.

"We have some of the best golf right where we live in Whistler and Pemberton."
