North Shore drivers can expect delays on the Lions Gate Bridge Thursday night and Friday morning, as some lanes will be closed in order to start maintenance on key structural pieces of the bridge, according to the B.C. Ministry of Driving and Infrastructure.

From 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 4), one lane both ways will be open but this will be downgraded to one lane alternating traffic from 10:30 p.m. Thursday to 5:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Maintenance crews will be replacing bearings near the south tower.

The Ministry of Driving and Infrastructure encourages drivers to take the Iron Workers Memorial Second Narrows Crossing Thursday night and Friday morning in order to avoid congestion caused by construction.

Always be mindful of workers and obey the signs posted, notes a release from the ministry.
