Even long-time locals have to admit, Whistler Village can be a magical place during the holidays.
Whistler Olympic Plaza is filled with skaters, those wacky lights set the place aglow and everyone on the bustling stroll seems a little less rushed.
Well, get ready because Whistler is set to kick the whimsy up to 11 for New Year's Eve celebrations.
From noon until 6 p.m. the seasonal Family Après will take place at Whistler Olympic Plaza with entertainment and outdoor activities. Or, if you need to warm up, move over to the Whistler Conference Centre for the holiday experience.
Then, at 7:30 p.m., head to the base of Whistler Mountain to Skier's Plaza where a High-Flying Snow Show is set to take place ahead of an early countdown and fireworks at 8 p.m.
Finally, for those staying up later, there will be a special edition of the Fire & Ice Show at Skier's Plaza at 11:30 p.m. followed by fireworks at midnight.

Music and Mountain Biking talk
How are music and mountain biking connected? Tune in to a presentation by author Jeff Warren to find out.
Warren, who wrote the book Music and Ethical Responsibility, will dig into how music shapes and reflects the mountain biking experience through mountain bike films, listening to songs while riding and even the sound of bikes.
Currently, Warren is working with his Quest colleague, sociologist John Reid-Hresko to examine mountain biking multimedia and look at questions around ethics, identity and nature.
The Quest Lecture, called Music & Mountain Biking, is set to take place at the Whistler Public Library on Jan. 9 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Launch your dreams and wishes
January is a time when many people think about the year ahead and the kind of changes they'd like to make in their life.
To that end, expressive art practitioner Jill Dawson is hosting Dreams and Wishes: Vision Board Workshop at the Whistler Public Library on Jan. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m.
During the session, participants will create a vision board filled with their dreams, wishes and thoughts to "have fun while creating what you want for yourself and claiming it with images, words and colour."
No art experience is necessary to create your collage and participants can come in without concrete ideas in mind.
