The Whistler Children’s Chorus gets into the spirit of the season this weekend with their annual Christmas concert to benefit the Whistler Food Bank.

Singers from 6 to 16 will celebrate the season in song, along with special guests who may include Santa, Joey Kangaroo and Mr. Grinch.

The concert, at Our Lady of the Mountains Church, is at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10. Admission is by donation to the food bank.

The Whistler Children’s Chorus is busy all month, with a performance on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the Westin Resort and Spa.

On Friday, Dec. 22 the Children’s Chorus will be singing at the Chateau Whistler Resort.

The following day, Dec. 23, the Whistler Children’s Chorus will be carolling in the village at 6 p.m. before moving to the Delta Whistler Resort for another performance.

On Sunday, Dec. 24 the annual Christmas Eve Carol Service will bring the Children’s Chorus together with other voices at the Whistler Conference Centre. The carol service begins at 6 p.m.

For a performance that includes dancing and story telling, in addition to singing, the intermediate students of Myrtle Philip school will be presenting A Holiday To Remember at the school on Dec. 14. A Holiday To Remember is billed as a multi-traditional choral celebration. Performances are at 4:30 and 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, Santa arrives in Whistler Dec. 9 and will be at the WAG shelter between 4 and 8 p.m. Pets can have their pictures taken with Santa and then WAG volunteers and Santa’s helpers will capture pets’ paw prints in a ceramic decoration, donated by Garlick Mountain Ceramics. WAG is inviting all to come by to see the new renovations and cattery and enjoy a bite to eat.

Sunday morning, Dec. 10, Santa will be at the Westin Resort and Spa to have breakfast with parents and kids, between 9 and 11 a.m. Children’s entertainer Bing Jensen will also be on hand. Proceeds from ticket sales for the breakfast will benefit the Whistler Food Bank and the Province Empty Stocking Fund.

The Lil’wat Christmas Bureau is also seeking donations. New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off before Dec. 20 at Nesters Market and donors will receive five Nesters dollars in return.
