Whistler marketing business extends to Victoria In May of 1999, Rob Drynan of Plum Travel Marketing launched Pluminfo, a free welcome and information package which is mailed out to confirmed visitors to Whistler resort prior to their arrival. To date, Pluminfo has sent to packages to some 3,000 visitors to Whistler. Now Drynan will be using the same technique in Victoria, B.C., at the request of the Empress Hotel. "Thanks to the support of Whistler hotels and businesses, Pluminfo Whistler has been very successful in its first year of business," said Drynan, president of Plum Travel Marketing. "Because of this support, The Empress Hotel in Victoria heard about Plum, and they liked the business enough to extend an invitation for me in Victoria." "Whistler has acted as my template," Drynan explained. "And with that knowledge I will grow the company to a number of destinations throughout North America." Pluminfo Welcome packages consist of local and seasonal information such as a trail map and a village map, in addition to advertiser brochures and information that is useful and pertains to the visitor. Requests for the packages come through the reservations departments of local hotels. "There is a great deal of work needed to refine Pluminfo in Whistler, but I am confident I will be able to improve on the high standard of service that I have already created," Drynan said.
