We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Whistler-Blackcomb Foundation for its generous donation of $15,000 for the purchase of a security system for the library at Whistler Secondary, a community school. Without this contribution, it would not have been possible to purchase a security system. Books have been lost every year, and funds have had to be used to replace them. This has been a loss of valuable assets in a library collection that is still relatively small and new.
The grant from the Whistler-Blackcomb Foundation has allowed the purchase of a 3M library security system. The security gates were installed during the Christmas break. Magnetic strips will be inserted into each book to ensure they are protected. All new materials will be protected in a similar manner as they become part of the collection. The security system will allow the library to increase the size of its collection more quickly, without incurring losses.
Thank you again to the Whistler-Blackcomb Foundation for its valuable and appreciated contribution.
