Aussie day more orderly this year

It was a more subdued Australia Day celebration this year, according to Whistler RCMP, with only two related arrests for public drunkenness and a handful of other complaints. A house party planned for Jan. 26 in Alpine Meadows did not take place.

A house party planned for Jan. 26 in Alpine Meadows did not take place. Police parked a cruiser out front to turn people away.

"Relative to years previous, it was much more orderly," said community policing officer Ray Bernoties."
