His work portrays images with strong Canadian influences – lakes and forests, colourful houses and whimsical children. Born in Northern B.C., Rod Charlesworth moved to the Okanagan at a young age. It was here that he discovered the works of an impressionist school, was influenced by the surrealists, and developed his own artistic theory of "What if I did this?"

With his love for landscapes, it seems only natural that Whistler has become a favourite inspiration for Charlesworth. Many in the region will recognize his work in association with the Whistler-Blackcomb Foundation. The cover of this year’s information package for the high profile charity event featured Charlesworth’s painting Out of the Northern Sky.

And the painter’s popularity has extended beyond the borders of Canada. His work is collected world-wide and can be seen in such publications as Magazine Art, La Guide Valle, Brushes in the Sun and Artists of the Okanagan.

Charlesworth returns to the adele-campbell Fine Art Gallery this weekend for his seventh show. An artist’s reception is being held Saturday, Feb. 10 th from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The exhibition and sale continue right through March 4 th .
