Follow your mates from down under to music shops April 3rd.

It's been a while coming, but Powderfinger's latest CD, Odyssey Number Five , finally has a Canadian release date. Odyssey has already sold better than 500, 000 copies in Powderfinger’s native Australia.

From first listen, it's easy to tell why this band is an Aussie favourite. The first scheduled single, My Happiness, is driving, emotive and infectious. The music has a distinctly Australian edge but is also a bit reminiscent of the British Manic Street Preachers and Seahorses. The band, however, will still sound more than comfortable on Canadian radio, between the likes of Creed and Moist.

If you can't quite put your finger on where you've heard Powderfinger before, perhaps it was on last year’s top-selling movie sound track , Mission Impossible II . Rumour has it that My Kind of Scene was recommended to Tom Cruise by a few Aussies in the make-up trailer. The band also chose to include a re-recorded version of These Days, which was voted number one on Australia's national youth radio network, Triple J's Hot 100 Poll of 1999.

These Days is definitely worth a re-listen. It’s one of the best uses of Bernard Fanning's unforgettable voice, both vulnerable and edgy. The entire CD is a must for the personal collection.
