Representatives of B.C. Hydro Employees’ Community Service Fund have presented a specially commissioned artwork to the Disabled Skiing Association of B.C.
The artwork, by renowned First Nation artist Art Thompson, was commissioned by B.C. Hydro to commemorate the $30,000 members of the fund (HYDRECS) have donated to the DSABC over the past three years. It was presented to the organization at the Challenge Cup in Whistler last Sunday. HYDRECS also contributed towards the event with a $2,500 co-sponsorship donation.
"We have been very fortunate and grateful to receive funding from HYDRECS to make opportunities happen for people with a disability," said DSABC executive director Andrea Robinson. "Now, over 200 volunteer instructors have been trained to assist people with a disability to learn how to ski and have fun."
The Disabled Skiers Association of B.C. was established in 1973. It has more than 700 members, including 300 volunteers, and provides learn-to-ski programs for people of all ages who have a range of disabilities.
