Sierra Wireless, a B.C.-based provider of wireless data communications products, has signed on to join Air Canada as a title sponsor for ninth annual Whistler Cup competition, running from April 6 to 8.
"We are honoured to sponsor a world class event and assist young athletes in achieving their personal and professional goals," said Sierra Wireless president and CEO David Sutcliffe. "We wish every athlete the best of luck during this years Whistler Cup competition."
The Whistler Cup is North Americas only FIS (Federation Internationale de Ski) sanctioned international juvenile ski race for girls and boys aged 11 to 14. The Whistler Mountain Ski Club, the host of the event, modelled the competition after the Trofeo Topolino juvenile races in Italy that started in the 1960s.
Some 18 countries, 150 coaches and 320 athletes are expected to compete in the Whistler Cup.
