Gardeners getting itchy thumbs

With the long, warm days finally in sight the members of the Whistler Garden Group are once again meeting to discuss the pleasures and passions of gardening.

With the long, warm days finally in sight the members of the Whistler Garden Group are once again meeting to discuss the pleasures and passions of gardening. Anyone who is obsessed with growing things, wants to be inspired and/or educated about gardening is welcome to join our group. This is the time of year that gardeners go berserk dreaming, scheming, seeding, weeding, dividing, hoeing, mowing, raking and staking.

Taking time out from our busy gardening schedules we met on Tuesday May 1 to discuss the goals of our group and plan for the future. Although we are a very informal group, consisting of 60 members, we needed direction and a focus. In the past we have had informative speakers, demonstrations, garden tours, plant swaps and garden pot lucks. We are currently looking for a new president and/ or event planner. We are also looking for people to volunteer to open up their gardens to the public for our garden tour in July.

Some of the activities that we have planned for the future are: making patio stones, our garden tour in July and a Potluck/Plant and Seed Swap in the fall.
