WHISTLER BOTTLE DEPOT.

Open Friday-Monday, noon-4 p.m. at the recycling depot on Nesters Road, next to municipal works yard . Most drinkable containers are now on the deposit-refund system, except for milk products and meal replacements. Commercial loads accepted by appointment. Call 932-3733.

WHISTLER MUSEUM.

Current displays are Whistler Then and Now; A look at events and historical trivia from Whistler’s incorporation in 1975 to the year 2000, including excerpts from Pique’s own Whistler — History in the Making book. Open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays. For information, research requests or tour bookings call 932-2019. Located at 4329 Main Street (next to the library in Village North).

WHISTLER PUBLIC LIBRARY.

The library’s hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Closed Wednesdays. Located at 4329 Main Street, Village North.

FOOD BANK.

The Whistler Community Services Society’s food bank is open the first and third Monday of each month. Food bank distribution hours are between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The food bank is located behind Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church, at the bottom of Lorimer Road. Donations are always welcome. For more urgent food bank requirements call 932-0113.

BIG BROTHERS, BIG SISTERS.

Are you a single parent? Could your child use another positive influence in their life? Someone they could befriend and spend some quality time with? Big Brothers/Sisters of Whistler/Pemberton is looking for children to be paired up with caring, fun-loving, and responsible volunteers for 2-4 hours a week. S.O.U.L. (Seekers of Universal Love)

Free HIV testing. Birth control counseling and supplies, STD testing and treatment, pregnancy counselling and other professional services at a reduced cost. Confidentiality assured. Clinic open Tuesdays, 4:30-7:30 p.m. Due to high demand Thursday clinics, 5-7 p.m. will recommence July 5.

HEALTHY PREGNANCY OUTREACH PROGRAM.

WHISTLER COMMUNITY SERVICES.

This local non-profit organization provides health and wellness programs and support services to Whistler residents. Call 932-0113 for information. Office hours: Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Location: Myrtle Philip school.

KIDSPORT WHISTLER.

PEARL’S PLACE TRANSITION HOUSE

(Squamish). Call toll-free 1-877-890-5711, or 892-5711 in Squamish, direct to support workers available to listen to and support women experiencing abuse. The shelter can house seven women and children.

CANCER SUPPORT & FRIENDS.

The Canadian Cancer Society has volunteer peer counselors available for one-on-one chats with cancer patients and their friends and families. In addition, a group of cancer survivors and friends get together for events such as skiing, hiking and barbecues on a regular basis. For information call Joanne Turner at 938-1902.

WHISTLER YOUTH OUTREACH WORKER.

Private or group confidential support for young adults, ages 17-27, facing challenges with alcohol and drugs, anger management, employment, suicide, homesickness, mental and physical health, conflict or poverty. Available 24 hours. Call Greg at 938-3902.

ELIZABETH MANSO VISITING VOLUNTEERS.

A volunteer support group for the incapacitated who do not have the support, help and comfort needed. In case of confinement to home, either terminal or temporary, the group can be called upon for assistance. Call the Whistler Community Services Society at 932-0113 for more information.

ANAD SUPPORT.

Association for Awareness and Networking around Disordered Eating is an ongoing support group in Whistler, meeting on Wednesday evenings, for women 19+ who experience issues around food, weight and body image. For information call Sheila at 932-4519 or Judith at 894-1667.

VICTIM SERVICES.

A victim is someone affected by a crime, a tragedy such as homicide, assault, sudden death, suicide or attempt, serious injury, motor vehicle accident, break-in or robbery. Victim Services will listen, help or refer you. We are trained and skilled in matters of victimization/trauma. Strictly confidential.
